An exercise bike is a stationary piece of equipment used solely for the purpose of exercise. A staple of gyms and work out environments it provides cardiovascular exercise while providing low impact stress to the feet, legs, and back.

Exercise Bikes are stationary, and used for the purpose of cardiovascular work outs. They come in different styles which gives more emphasis to certain body parts. Upright Bikes are equipment utilizing the traditional sitting position on a standard bike. When using an Upright Bike it naturally places additional stress on the arms, neck and back as well as providing a lower body cardiovascular workout. The Recumbent Bike places the focus solely on the lower body workout, relieving stress on the back and upper body. Some people prefer the luxury of a hands free environment, which is feature of the recumbent position. Determining which variety is right for you is a matter of personal preference, as well as physical limitations. Issues of space and storage should also be determining factor. Exercise bikes also have a variety of features such as Resistance Control, electronic monitoring, mp3 playback, and height adjustment.
